Errand Excuses + New Nail Polish ~ Chicago Lifestyle Photographer

Yesterday I had a meeting with one of our awesome 2014 couples and afterwards stopped at Walgreens to pick up a new toothbrush and dental floss. (We have our 6-month cleanings coming up in a week – so you know I have to get especially diligent about flossing now! 😉  haha)

For some reason whenever I go to Walgreens (or anywhere that carries nail polish, if I’m being honest) – I cannot help but end up in the nail polish aisle, staring at the shelf for much too long. This time I figured since I just finished number crunching/gathering all the information to put in the 2013 tax packet that our accountant sent us – clearly I was deserving of some new nail polish colors! (I find reasoning like this all the time as an excuse to buy things… i.e. We booked a wedding! i.e. I did yoga for once! i.e. I made us dinner last night! i.e. I cleaned the bathrooms! i.e. We don’t have kids yet, so we can splurge! … You name it, I’ve probably used it as an excuse to buy any number of things. :))

This time I was particularly drawn to the new sparkling Essie colors. SPARKLE!! I’m not big on it elsewhere in my wardrobe or life, but nail polish? I. Can’t. Resist.

And so I walked out of Walgreens with a new toothbrush, some dental floss, and two new shades of sparkly Essie nail polish: “belugaria” & “hors d’oeuvres.” I originally planned to try the “belugaria” color, which is a black with sparkles in it… but when I put it on my nails it came out CHUNKY. It was almost like someone had dumped sand in the bottle. Super weird. And definitely getting returned. I’m not sure if it is supposed to be like that – but something tells me it isn’t…?

So, on to the “hors d’oeuvres” I went. I painted my nails with a base of OPI’s “You don’t know Jacques!” and then used the “hors d’oeuvres” as an accent along the outer edge of each nail. I must say, I’m pretty much obsessed with it! First of all, normally sparkly polishes have trouble showing up. I feel like you have to put on 10 coats to get the right amount of sparkle, but with “hors d’oeuvres” that is not the case! It is the prettiest almost iridescent/gold/silver/sparkle/amazingness I’ve ever bought. (And I have 4 other gold & silver sparkly polishes, so I know! haha ;))

I’m pretty sure this is my new favorite color combo! Sorry it’s a bit hard to see with my terrible iPhone photos… but trust me… go get some and try it at home. 🙂

Thanks for indulging my silly nail polish obsession today, friends! 😉  What are some of your favorites? I’m always looking for new colors!  🙂
