Keith + Lydie ~ Alfred Caldwell Lily Pond ~ Chicago Proposal Photography

I have to say – I love every single proposal I shoot so SO much, but Keith and Lydie’s may just be one of my favorites! I think it was so much fun because it was very different than the normal hide in a bush paparazzi proposal. This proposal I got to have a pretty big part in making sure it went off without a hitch! And to say I was incredibly nervous is a pretty huge understatement! haha

Keith and Lydie were visiting the US from London, and Chicago was going to be the start of their road trip along Route 66. How cool is that?! I love it when soon-to-be grooms make the proposal the start of a trip so then they have the rest of their trip to celebrate! Anyway – Keith contacted me with ideas about how he wanted to propose in Chicago, and eventually decided to pop the question at the Alfred Caldwell Lily Pond, which is by far one of my favorite hidden gems in Chicago! Keith wanted some secret photos done beforehand, but for the proposal he wanted me to be right there front and center with the two of them – and he is the  one who actually came up with the whole idea!

He suggested that I approach he and Lydie and tell them I was trying to build my portfolio and wanted to know if they would pose for some photos for me, in exchange for the images. Then part way into our shoot Keith was going to propose! I’m always up for a little acting – so I was right on board with his idea! Apparently I was so believable that when the proposal happened in the middle of our little photo shoot, Lydie thought I had no idea it was going to happen and that Keith was just taking advantage of having a photographer there! haha! He had to tell her that he had actually emailed me months in advance and planned the entire thing. She couldn’t believe it! It was fabulous.:)

Anyway- enough chit chat from me! Let’s get to the photos!!!

Then they wandered around the pond to where I was and I asked if they’d pose for my portfolio! (I may have been just as nervous as Keith was at this moment!)

And then I got them into the pose Keith and I agreed upon where he could make his move!:)Look at the shock on her face… I love it!

How giddy and cute are they?!

Aren’t they adorable?! I loved this proposal! Congratulations again Keith and Lydie! I hope you have an amazing rest of your trip through the US!

And off the rest of us go into the weekend already! James and I have our first double-header ever, with a wedding in the suburbs today and another in Wisconsin tomorrow! Eeee! And I recently realized I haven’t taken a full day off in almost a month – since our anniversary back in May – so I think Sunday may call for a little R&R for James and I after 2 full weddings in a row… yes?!

Happy weekending everybody! See you Monday!:)
