There’s been a lot of talk in the news lately about proposals thanks to this guy’s awesome proposal a couple weeks ago. (I’ll admit it – I’ve watched that video numerous times and cried every time!) Then there is this video a soon-to-be groom made for his then-girlfriend (which is definitely one of my personal favorites – you must watch it if you haven’t! And get the tissues ready)!
With social media so prevalent now it seems that proposals are becoming a bigger and bigger deal – with grander and grander gestures each time – that are shared immediately with friends and family via Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube! Because of this I’ve been getting many more proposal photography inquiries lately and I realized I don’t have one easy place to send my potential clients to get all the information I have about proposals. SO – I decided I should probably just write a post about it to share all the details!
I believe (of course) that no matter how you choose to propose to your partner there is no wrong way. On the couch at home over a bottle of wine? Yes! Having a discussion on a long road trip and you two both say Yes with no ring involved? Awesome!!
But if you’re partner is the type that loves to document life and has photos of countless events the two of you have been to together – then I believe there is no better way to surprise them than by hiring a professional photographer to document your proposal! Because, trust me, from someone who was proposed to just a few years ago (and who is clearly obsessed with photos)… the moment flies by in an instant and you are in such a state of joy and shock that you have a hard time remembering any of the details once it is over – so having photos of that moment is priceless!
Just as they say with love that there is no perfect person, there is only the perfect person for YOU… the same goes with proposals! There is no perfect proposal – only the perfect proposal for you and your partner! Whether your partner prefers grand gestures, or quiet moments… public displays of affection, or a private picnic in a hidden gem of a location… casual date nights, or black tie affairs… there is somewhere in this beautiful city that will be the perfect place for your proposal story to play out!
Regardless of how you choose to propose – I offer one package for my Chicago proposal photography clients to make it easy on you (because you have enough to worry about already, right?)!!
Here are all the Chicago Proposal Photography Package details!
- Help planning the proposal’s execution, including lots of email correspondence back and forth with images/maps/descriptions, and texts the day of the proposal.
- Two photographers documenting the proposal – with me and James both hidden in the bushes paparazzi style, or out in the open and a part of the plan! Contact me and I’ll help you figure out what works best for your perfect proposal!
- A brief portrait session following the proposal. (20-30 minutes depending on your time limitations and how soon you’re running off to celebrate!)
- Fully edited high resolution images from the shoot in an online gallery to share with family & friends (where you can order professional prints & canvas prints).
I’m proud to say that I’ve heard from my previous proposal clients that after they hired me to help them plan and execute their proposal – they were immediately more at ease and knew that everything would go smoothly because they had me on their side helping them through the day (and the nerve-wrecking weeks beforehand)!
Here are a few of the places I’ve shot Chicago proposals in the past (but the possibilities for locations in the city are nearly endless!!!)…
Proposals at Buckingham Fountain:
A proposal at the Gazebo across from The Drake:
A proposal on Michigan Avenue Bridge over the Chicago River:
A proposal at the Adler Planetarium:
A proposal at the Alfred Caldwell Lily Pond at Lincoln Park Zoo:
And a proposal along the Chicago River in downtown Chicago:
As I said before – there is no perfect proposal … only the perfect proposal for the two of you!
